About Yes2Wind

Championing wind energy with accurate information, evidence-based advocacy, and community support since 2003.

Our History

Yes2Wind was originally launched in 2003 as a joint initiative between three of the UK's most respected environmental organisations - Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, and WWF. The campaign was created in response to growing misinformation about wind energy and the urgent need to support the UK's transition to clean, renewable power.

What began as a focused advocacy effort has grown into a comprehensive resource for anyone seeking reliable, evidence-based information about wind energy - from homeowners and community groups to local councils and policymakers.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple - to provide accurate, well-researched information about wind energy and to support communities that are considering wind power projects. We believe that informed communities make better decisions, and that wind energy plays a vital role in tackling climate change and building a sustainable future.

We work to cut through the noise and present the facts about how wind power works, its environmental benefits, and its growing role in the UK's energy mix.

What We Do

  • Educational resources - We publish clear, accessible guides about wind energy technology, planning processes, and environmental impact so that everyone can understand the real story behind wind power.
  • Myth-busting - We address common misconceptions about wind energy head-on, using peer-reviewed research and official data to separate fact from fiction.
  • Community support - We help local communities navigate the process of engaging with wind energy projects, providing tools and information to support constructive dialogue.
  • Industry connections - We connect people with trusted organisations, developers, and experts in the wind energy sector to ensure they have access to the best possible guidance.

Our Values

Transparency

We are committed to presenting information honestly and openly. Every claim we make is backed by credible sources, and we clearly distinguish between established facts and areas of ongoing research.

Evidence-Based Advocacy

Our position on wind energy is grounded in science. We draw on data from government bodies, academic institutions, and independent research organisations to ensure our content is accurate and up to date.

Community Empowerment

We believe that communities should have a meaningful voice in energy decisions that affect them. Our goal is to equip people with the knowledge they need to participate fully and confidently in those conversations.
